Meet the team behind Dream of Gems!
Alicia - Sales, Marketing, Socials & Miner
I grew up in a small country town of Julia Creek in North West Queensland. Where we spent most of our time growing up in the outdoors, camping, fishing and on cattle stations managed by my grandfather. Over the years I've worked in sales across retail and hospitality and as a deckhand/cook on boats in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Every job taught me something valuable and they all feed into how I approach Dream of Gems with care, creativity and an awareness for sustainability. I work underground mining sapphires, run our social media/marketing, customer experience, and manage sales. All while keeping a close eye on quality control, so every gem that leaves our hands is something we're proud of.
Daniel - Facetor, Maintenance & Miner
Daniel childhood was shaped by life on the Gemfields. Growing up in Reward, a designated fossicking area. Spending much of his time also in the outdoors fossicking and bushwalking with his parents. After some time travelling and working overseas, he returned to work in local quarries in The Gemfields and in Western Australia as an excavator operator.
He now cuts and polishes all of our gemstones himself, does the mining underground and maintains the equipment. All while bringing out the beauty in each stone with precision and care. His deep understanding to the land and understanding of the craft started young and only grew stronger over time.
We both share a real passion for gemstones, especially sapphires. It's what brought us together and inspires everything we do. Together we have combined our skills, love for the outdoors and sense of adventure to make a home in Rubyvale and bring Dream of Gems to life. Afterall, it started with a dream and now it's our reality. We are very pleased to be able to bring high-quality hand-mined Australian Sapphires to the global market.
